Rats are found in and around towns. They eat and contaminate large amounts of feed, damage structures by their gnawing and burrowing, and spread diseases that affect livestock and humans. Rats will eat nearly anything, but they prefer high-quality foods such as fresh grain, livestock feed, and meat. Rats require 1 fluid ounce of water daily when feeding on dry food.

The presence of garbage and other refuse allows rats to exist in residential areas. Good sanitation will not eliminate rats under all conditions, but will make the environment less suitable for them to thrive. Rats can be eliminated from the premises by using grain baits, station baits (cage), and rat glue. Several types of anticoagulant baits are available. It is easy to place bait into burrows, walls, or other locations. Rats readily will gnaw into place packs and feed on baits. Ants have been living on Earth for more than 100 million years and can be found almost anywhere on the planet. It is estimated that there are about 20,000 different species of ants. Ants build many different types of homes. Many ants build simple little mounds out of dirt or sand. Other ants use small sticks mixed with dirt and sand to make a stronger mound that offers protection from rain. Ant mounds consist of many chambers connected by tunnels.

Different chambers are used for nurseries, food storage, and resting places for worker ants. Some ants live in wood-like termites. Many species of ants have poison sacks and/or stingers in the end of the metasoma for defense against their many predators. Ants are considered as pest when they start competing for our food. Nothing is spared from the ants as they feed on almost every food that is available. Ants could be eliminated from the premises by using insecticides such as aerosol sprays and residual spraying.

Cockroaches are found in dark, damp and warm places. Frequently congregate in groups in more or less open spaces, rather than in cracks and crevices. They are often found in sewers, grease traps, floor drains, pipe chases, damp basements and similar places. Cockroaches feed on a variety of foods, but decaying organic matter seems to be preferred. They also feed upon book bindings, manuscripts, clothing and glossy paper with starch sizing.

Syrup and other sweets are also attractive. Cockroaches can be controlled slowly, but effectively by the use of residual insecticide sprays or gel. Cockroaches can be killed by the use of non-residual, quick-knockdown insecticides. Non-residuals are usually applied with aerosols.
